Playbill for a Tragedy
Part stage play, part prose, a recurring cast tells two queer tragedies. Act one: a failed assassin turned body guard who falls in love with her charge in an unaccepting high society. Act two: a sex worker turned right hand of a gang leader whose bloody path to power eventually catches up to her.
The Martyr and Her Daughters
An unwanted pregnancy drags an ambitious mercenary into a messy game of politics to keep her protégée, and surrogate daughter, safe from the commune’s leader. Her efforts end in a failed coup that leaves her dead. Years later, her two daughters must decide how they will honour their mother’s legacy when a hopeful mercenary-to-be arrives at the commune wielding the coup leader’s weapons.
Children of Chaos
In a time of long-lasting war sparked by the destruction of the mage kingdom, a human princess, a winged solider, a stonekin scholar and a feral prophetess band together believing they’re meant to fulfill an ancient prophecy to kill the last mage. Their attempt fails spectacularly, some more than others paying the price, and scatters them once more. Meeting down darker and darker paths, they realize perhaps they are who the prophecy spoke of, but it’s one of them the others are fated to kill.
King of the Nomidri
Coronation looming, one of the to-be king’s advisors is imprisoned and the second is trying in vain to free her, leaving the king vulnerable. When a stranger arrives with rescue plan, it’s risky but impossible to pass up. The gamble leaves the king captured, one advisor torn and scrambling to save both her companions and the other making her own escape back to the shattered pieces.
